Acoustica, the acoustic live in concert followed by the slogan “The Echoes of Silence” is one of a kind musical extravaganza of history of Sri Lankan acoustic music organized by Zero Five Mahindians as a fund raising event for the development and the betterment of Mahinda College. Kasun kalhara ,Nadeeka Guruge, Nadeeka Jayawardane and Indrachapa Liyanage will be performing with the acoustic band Nadha lead by Nayana.
Acoustic Music has its origins in the folk music of the 1960s. Following the increasing popularity of the television show MTV Unplugged during the 1990s, acoustic (though in most cases still electrically amplified) performances by musicians who usually rely on electronic instruments became colloquially referred to as “unplugged” performances. The trend has also been dubbed as “acoustic rock” in some cases.
Writing for Splendid, music reviewer Craig Conley suggests, “When music is labeled acoustic, unplugged, or unwired, the assumption seems to be that other types of music are cluttered by technology and overproduction and therefore aren’t as pure”.
“Acoustica –The Echoes of Silence”musical experiment will lead by Nadeeka G, would be the first appearance Sri Lankan acoustic rock music. There, the history of Sri Lankan acoustic music will be re-written on 3rd of December at the Medical Faculty Auditorium, Galle.
